Felidomancy.com Objectives

What is the purpose of this blog?

I thought a lot about that before I finally decided to take the plunge and start posting. I came up with a list of three. I would love to hear your opinion, so chime in below.

Felidomancy.com Objectives

  1. Revive the Lost Art
  2. Liberate the Future
  3. Have Fun

Revive the "Lost Art" of Felidomancy.

Most Americans have heard that if a black cat crosses your path, you’ll have bad luck. You may have also heard that if a cat’s fur stands on end, rain is coming. I wondered if there were a system. I set out to learn more. Do people still divine the future from the actions of cats? After conducting an internet search, I found very little. Mostly what I found would best be classified as superstition, rather than divination.

This website is my response. People who are interested in learning more or sharing what they know, will have a place to come to exchange ideas. Please send me your experiences with Felidomancy. In this way, we will have a place to revive this lost art.

Create a Community

There are many communities devoted to divination. Tarot, for example, is experiencing a huge upswing in popularity. As such, people have many places to exchange ideas, techniques, stories, and insight. I’d like this to be a place for people to share their experiences and questions about Felidomancy.

Liberate the future from the tyranny of the narrow view

It seems paradoxical, but sometimes I feel like we’re more boxed-in the more the world expands. As our cumulative knowledge grows, there are those who wish to force everything into narrowly defined classification systems. They name things, not to breathe life into their lungs and supply air under their wings. Instead, the “naming of things” acts as a way to pin things down like a dead butterfly in a museum. We can still learn and explore without killing the magic of it all. The future is out there for us to move through with every moment.

Felidomancy, as with any divination, should set us free. It should allow us to gain insight into the past, present, and future, and live life to the fullest. The future should not be feared. The future comes to us as the “now,” whether we fight it or not. Why not make peace with time? It is not working with you or against you. It simply "is."

We live in a world of possibility. It's not as narrow or confined as it seems. It's wide open. The only link between one moment to the next is the very idea that they are linked. If you set your preconceived notions aside for a while, you'll see that your journey through time is not set on a railway track. You can, at any given point in time, turn in any direction you please.

I hope that the practice of divination liberates you from your time tracks and helps you to conceptualize new directions and dare to dream them, follow them, and pursue a fulfilling life.

Have Fun
